Peter has done many “big jobs'” inside and outside of my house over the 16 years I have lived here. Most recently he redesigned, renewed and rehabbed my kitchen. It is just beautiful! Amazing that he could make so much room and use my small space so well. Everyone raves over it! He has also refinished my basement, installed a new bathroom, redid my old roof, waterprooefed my basement inside and out. I must be forgetting a few things. Always professional, fair and thorough. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We just renovated a small bathroom in an older home, everything about it was custom. We installed Carrara marble, with a glass shower enclosure, shower pan and seat, wainscoting and beautiful wood trim to accent the transition into the large moldings with rosettes.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check credentials and ask for 3 recent references and testimonials.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Peter says: My mother purchased a 2 acre parcel of land in the mountains of Virginia and had a cabin built. At the age of 8 I was asked to help out and loved it. Recently my mother sold me the property and I continually improve and maintain it. It’s one of my favorite places because it was there I fell in love with carpentry and construction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed and insured MHIC contractor. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. During my successful 15 year career in commercial/advertising photography I gained insight and an understanding of the design process. Today, this helps me in the conception and execution of my projects. I received certification from Schluter Systems to install their advanced waterproofing system, a company that stands behind their product and provides a comprehensive 15 year warranty.
